Abstract

Calotes nigrilabris (Black-cheek lizard) is an endemic, range-restricted and threatened lizard species in Sri Lanka. This paper provides the first detailed description of the ovipositional behavior of Calotes nigrilabris in Sri Lanka, recorded from the periphery of Hakgala Strict Nature Reserve in the Central massif. The observations described in this article would be useful in conservation planing for this species which is restricted to the central highlands of the island. But ovipositional behavior of the critically endangered Calotes desilvai still not document.
