Abstract

A triploid specimen of the diploid anuran species Glandirana emeljanovi was identified by means of DNA flow cytometry. The finding is interpreted as a case of natural spontaneous autotriploidy. The incidence of triploidy was 4.5% per species (n = 22) and 8.3% per sample (n = 12). Additionally, a presumable triploid specimen was identified for G. tientaiensis. These are the first records of natural triploidy in the genus Glandirana. The records of triploidy in Chinese and Oriental amphibians are discussed.
