Abstract

We herein report about the first record of the Mountain ground skink Scincella monticola from Vietnam. The species previously was only known from Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Yunnan, in China. Our first country record for Vietnam is based on a single male specimen collected from Mau Son Mountain, Lang Son Province. We comment on the synonymy and taxonomy of this species and provide first ecological notes for Vietnam.
